From design to 3D-expert
Today, in addition to his work as a craftsman designer, Stefan specializes in 3D jewelery modeling and design. A few years ago he automated his workshop and invested in 3D jewelry CAD (Computer Aided Design) software.
This highly refined and powerful tool has enabled him, as a designer, to design unique and highly personal pieces for demanding customers.
From draft to 3D-drawing
Based on a jewel sketch, preferably with the right measurements, Stefan draws and creates the jewel model with his 3D software. The first advantage is that the parameters can be changed in a few clicks without the sketch having to be created from scratch. That saves a lot of time. The material, the size of the stone and the jewel can be adjusted infinitely many times.
The jeweler who works with Stefan receives a drawing or a number of 3D proposals that he can print on paper and show the customer. Depending on his question, he can then propose the same model in, for example, white or yellow gold. He can also change the size or color of the stone.
This leads to a very personalized service, which is increasingly being asked and valued by the end customer.
From 3D model to wax form
Once the model of the jewel has been validated, the computer file containing the model is sent by e-mail to a company that will produce the wax form using a 3D printer.
Once the wax form is made, the jeweler tradesman continues the process with the casting of the jewel.
3D as a service for prodessionals
Not everyone combing complex computer tools such as CAD, it is thanks to word-of-mouth advertising that Stefan was approached by professionals who want to take advantage of his expertise in 3D.
For example, he offers his services to all Belgian jewelers, both French and Dutch speaking, as he is perfectly bilingual.
